I can reproduce the crash by going into edit mode on Cube. (there is no ObjectA or ObjectB in the file)

It's an attempt to free an illegal pointer in extract_edge_fac_finish.

A small addition, if I may: if it doesn't already, having the same behaviour with the Duplicate operation would be great, UE4's node tools has this functionality and it's great.

I don't know if this has been proposed, but moving Compositor data to a data-block structure would have benefits: including moving comps easily between files/projects, switching out comps in batch renders (my current use case), allowing scratch pads for comps, and probably more I can't think of.

@Ivan Cappiello (icappiello) I mentioned Rigify because it was the quickest route to get to the problem, not an indication that the problem is caused by Rigify itself, though changes could possibly be made to Rigify to mitigate the issue.

It seems to be related to hidden bones being keyed with the Whole Character, but hidden bones staying hidden in the Dopesheet (but their keyframes show in the rig's keyframe overview).

Agreeing with @michael knubben (michaelknubben), @Adam Preisler (Alphisto) and @Metin Seven (MetinSeven). Adding Edge Groups would also be very useful (and consolidating Edge Bevel Weights, Edge Crease Weights, etc. into the system), and being able to chose between Face, Edge, Vertex Groups in modifiers would make procedural modelling much better (ie. Mask, Array, Mirror, etc.)

Could we add a soft minimum of -1.0f to this? There are procedural modelling techniques that use the inverse-smooth, ie. < 0.0f (I think it's the reason why I wrote the patch originally :P).
