Description

This project was a placeholder for all the patches and tricky bugs which can not be applied or fixed due to the release cycle schedule. Those patches/bug fixes will be committed after release.

Archived as we are now using milestones on the BF Blender projects instead.

D4416: Fix viewlayer hide/exclude settings getting lost for linked collections. is now accepted and ready to land.

Am still a bit puzzled by the two blocks clearing the flag in readfile.c… Feels odd to clear that flag, and then set it again, but I guess those are needed. And maybe it's better that way, to ensure we only mark as week link the IDs that need it (since a linked collection's content can change e.g.).

Generally fine, approach remain globally the same as in previous version, and not having to define a new block type in .blend file is probably a good thing.

Hi Pinus , Thank you for testingg. I have tried with the next two hidden and this still refuses to join for me . Would you suggest this is my blender installation can you provide links to your dowloads please and i will reinstall with 2.18 and 2.8 as you have and try that? The lin was straight forward to emulate you just select the two items in the object viewer click the mesh and choose unlink hope this helps one of the items usually the pin disapears.

Maybe I did not understand the problem correctly, but I can connect with your file the axis and the arm with ctrl + j
(join in object mode) and I can separate them in edit mode with p (separate by material) again from each other.
Tested with 2.81 from today.

Also, a very HUGE slots management, UMC and workflow compatibility issue.

Also, the difference between A1 and any other is indeed the same, as between bookmark and a bank cell.

Those infographs are really clear and well done, thank you. I plan on abandoning this patch anyways since it seems I'm the only pushing for B1.

We still need a way to handle the UI though. Even if we stick to B2 as we currently have.

As a technical director, my job is to deal with mess that users brings to files just daily.
It is ok for me to work with 6000-8000 layers in autocad, including block refrences, that can contain multiple, because I wrote special toolset to handle that much layers, so I know how it feels.

Not ignored, it seems to have been discussed at length on T61492. But I would rather leave the discussion on alternatives elsewhere not to detract from the main functionality presented in the patch.

I guess I more fundamentally don’t really understand why this outline view must work so differently from the actual Outliner? In some scenes you want to expand some Collections and not others. For the main Outliner, expanding all items together would not be acceptable, so really I don’t think it should be here.

I was planning on adding to this patch to make it a complete 'multi object editing with proportional editing' patch. After second thoughts this patch should probably left as a potential upgrade to set_prop_dist().

AFAIK newer Intel graphics after core 6th gen CPUs are capable of OpenGL 4.x. Yes on my machine who has a 4th gen core i7 mobile processor, blender will nor run unless it uses nvidia video card.
