Thanks for the reply.
Sorry for the harsh words, but from a users point this sounds like the little brother of "yeah, we have some viruses in our product-installer, just install an additional anti-virus tool".
Maybe there are some statistics-tools available that you can install locally on the blender-servers?

+1 on contact section in About page

I'll look into it tomorrow. Shall I just make a new static page called 'Contact' or maybe is safer to just add a 'Contact' section to https://www.blender.org/id/about ?

Pfff they don't even specify what kind of request will be performed (GET or POST).

It was there, but it does require you to sign up for a new account to see it, so it's kind of hidden I guess.
I've never seen that template before when I was making the new Blender ID?

Requests are properly packed for nightly buildbot builds, so sure enough site-packages externals are taken into account by the CMake itself. So must be something with particular way of packing/building.
I did some digging, Requests seems to be in SVN when you do this:
@Martijn Berger (juicyfruit) can you take a look at this? This should be fixed for 2.78-rc2.
Thanks for the bug report. Apparently the MacOS build of Blender is missing the requests module.
