%%%Duplicates of Group Instances within a Group Instance do show up in the 3Dviewport, but won't get rendered with Cycles. It seems that only the first or last copy of those Group Instances gets rendered.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think r47590M is the last version which didn't have this problem.

Might be related to #31938 & #31780 (?)

I've added a .blend file which demonstrates the bug by rendering layer 3.
On layer 1 are the original objects (sharing the same mesh) grouped as "Group". Layer 2 contains three Group Instances of "Group" which in their turn have been grouped as "Group2". On layer 3 is a Group Instance of "Group2".%%%

%%%Can not actually see difference between viewport and render result here. Brecht, maybe i'm missing something?

tum, suffix M in the revision number worries me. Could you please try using builds from http://builder.blender.org/download/ ?%%%

%%%Uhm, I have no idea what the suffix M stands for, but I already am using the BuildBot versions. The OSX builds apparently come with it.

Today I was able to try it with a Linux build (r48341) and indeed then it works fine, so I guess it has to do with the OSX versions. I should add my specs:

OSX 10.6.8
Model: iMac7,1, BootROM IM71.007A.B03, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz, 2 GB, SMC 1.20f4
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT, ATI,RadeonHD2400, PCIe, 128 MB
Blender: r47656M (from http://builder.blender.org/download/)%%%

%%%For some reason the BuildBot OSX version hasn't been updated for over a month, but now I got my hands on the 2.64 test build (r48802) and it looks like this group within group rendering bug doesn't occur anymore. :)%%%

%%%Sure!
I've re-tested the OSX version on both r50696 (2.64 RC1) and r50767 (BuildBot). Yes, the problem is fixed for me. :)%%%
