Expanding selection with Ctrl-NUMPAD+ with verts hidden selects incorrectly #32301

%%%Discovered whilst editing long thin multi-segment cylinders, using Ctrl-NUMPAD+ to incrementally extend selection followed by - [x]ide, resulted in incorrect selection, as well as verts that were no longer visible remaining selected after the - [x]ide operation. Selection was being assigned to a new vertex group, but this was found not to be necessary for the bug.

Procedure to set up object:
. add a cube, [TAB] to edit, - [x] to deselect all verts, [Ctrl-2] to change to edge select mode, ensure Limit Selection to Visible is OFF;
. [NUMPAD1] to switch to Front view, - [x] to change to box select, select the four vertical edges;
. - [x], Subdivide, change number of Cuts to 16;

This will leave a cube with a number of horizontal loops - the same behaviour is exhibited with cylinders too.

Procedure to demonstrate bug:
. using the cube from above, [Ctrl-1] to change to vert select mode,
. [Alt-RCLK] to select the first ring below the top face of the box, [Ctrl-NUMPAD+] once, observe 12 verts selected,
. - [x] to hide those verts, selection returns correctly to zero;

. now [Alt-RCLK] the top exposed ring of the box, and [Ctrl-NUMPAD+] to expand selection once... titlebar summary reports 12 verts selected, but only 8 are visible. Further [Ctrl-NUMPAD+] expansions retain the extra 4 verts only.

. - [x]iding those verts leaves the titlebar showing 4 verts are selected, but the 3D View shows no highlighted verts.

. selecting a ring that is not the topmost exposed one, and using [Ctrl-NUMPAD+] shows the correct number of selected verts, until the selection is expanded beyond the topmost exposed ring, at which point the titlebar summary includes the extra verts, and the Hide operation will leave the titlebar summary non-zero;

This behaviour observed on Win32 builds, ATI RADEON 5870 card, in most recent "Testbuild2" binary (2.63.17, r49666) downloaded from blender.org, back through 2.63.7 r47054, to at least Release 2.63a r46461:46487M. Release 2.62.0 (r44136) did not exhibit this behaviour.
