The attached collada file describe the animation of a simple arm which falls under gravity.
The attached .avi shows the expected animation, as rendered by openscenegraph, loading the same collada file.
When I import and play the collada animation in blender, the result is not the one I expected. The forearm transform seems to change the globale pose of the object as opposed to its pose relative to its parent (the arm). The end pose is weird too, maybe there is a bug also in the conversion from the collada transform matrix to the blender quaternion.

%%%- Which program was used to create the collada file?
Note that the collada spec is incredible flexible, it allows to save data in xml in a way each program has to convert again...%%%

Hello, thank you for your prompt handling of my report
The file was created by a rigid body simulation engine called
arboris-python. I then hand-edited it to remove InstanceNodes to
external entities since blender does not seem to support them.
OpenSceneGraph reads it ok.
I also tried to convert it using OpenCOLLADA DAE2MA 1.2.2 and asked somebody to open it in maya. I've been told the scene was ok but the animation was missing entirely.
Mac OS X Preview.app display the animation with transform mixed up too, but differently than blender.
Sketchup does not seem to support importing collada animation at all.
Which other tool could I use?
I agree it flexible: the same data can be expressed in many way. But hopefully it can only be interpreted (read) in a single way.
I know the spec a bit myself and think OpenSceneGraph reads this file correctly. (If true, then blender and Mac OS Preview.app are both wrong).
This collada file is really simple, it can be opened in an text editor.%%%
%%%Collada import/export is not yet fully developed. This bug is known as a missing feature.
For this reason this Report has been set as "Closed/Todo" and linked from our wiki page.

You can still update this report with more detailed information until it gets reopened/fixed.%%%
%%%@Sébastien Barthélémy: I think all issues are solved in revision 58742.
Also import of library instances should now work.
Could you test again on a recent build (58742 or newer) and check if this report can be closed ?
Or report what defects still appear. i couldn't find any.
%%%Hello Gaia,
I just checked that the example attached to this bug repport is now animated as I expect it. Thank you for that fix!
Alas, I have no time to test other examples right now. The report can be closed AFAIC. Thanks again.%%%
