Save&Load - Relative Paths ticked, Obj Import and Textures tab uses absolute paths
Open the attached example scene that is inside the zipfile. Have a look at the pink mesh in the middle, and the absolute path in the image editor. Then have a look at the user preferences. The item Relative Paths is ticked in my preferences. And so i would expect to find relative paths in the file path slot. It is absolute. That`s why the texture is not found and the mesh is pink.
To reproduce, simply import the also attached obj file and have a look at the file path in the textures tab.
I always wondered why Blender not simply used Relative Paths instead the absolute paths. Because this means that when you move the file and textures you will end in not longer working paths for the images. Now i was irritated by a statement that relative paths in Blender is standard for a long time. But fact is that i actually always have to fix the absolute paths in the image editor. So i had a look at the settings and my workflow. The item Relative paths is ticked in my settings. When i import a image in the Image Editor from within Blender, then i really get relative paths. But when i import an Obj file, then i get absolute paths. And that is what i do most of the times. I import a mesh. I rarely create it in Blender.
