System Information
Windows 7HE64- KFA2 GTX970 4Go with last nvidia driver release (364.51) - 16 Go RAM.

Blender Version
Experimented on official released 2.76b and 2.77 and 2.77RC2 portable.

Short description of error
Since i've installed 2.77, i get this error In any new project, when i try to add the Mask Node in the compositor.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I create a new project, than in the node editor / Compositor, i check the " use node " and i Add a Mask Node (read below for more details).

More details :

  • When i open an older project(1) using the mask node, the node works.
  • If i copy and paste it from an older project(1) in a new project(2) it works (in the same blender session)
  • In an older project(1) using the Mask Node, i can Add another Mask Node without error.
  • In a new project(2), where i've past the Mask Node from an older project(1), i can't Add the Mask Node (You can see it in the screen capture). But i can copy / paste the Mask Node, and it works.

(1) created with 2.76b

(2) tested with 2.76b, 2.77, 2.77RC2 portable version

What i've tried (without success) :
  • I've deleted all folders and files in the Roaming/Blender Foundation/ folder.
  • i've un-installed/re-installed Blender (2.77 to 2.76b)
  • I've un-installed/re-installed Blender (2.76b to 2.77)
  • Same thing with a Blender 2.77RC2 portable version.

I cannot reproduce any error here, using official linux64 2.77 release or current master. Could be your startup file that got some bad data somehow, please try to start Blender in factory settings (--factory-startup commandline option) (this will ensure whether this is a userpref or addon issue or not).

Hi Bastien and ty for your interest.

Well, since i've post my problem on Blender Stack Exchange, i've edited it . In fact, the problem exists, but only when 'im using the spacebar to find the " Add Mask Node " function in the compositor. I guess i've done the mistake to edit the initial post instead to close it and reopen a new one with that essential precision ... My bad.

OK, can confirm now. Not sure what’s that 'add mask node' op is doing now, totally looks useless (outside maybe from UI/py script that set the mask name property), looks like it should have an invoke callback to let user select among available masks … Will let @Sergey decide further. :)
