Hair animation problem #53623

32GByte RAM

Short description of error
In my hairsystem (one hair-particlesystem) only a few of the guide hairs are working properly with the moving animation. The other guide hairs do nothing.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open the blend-file and play the animation. You can see, that about the half guide hairs are moving and the other don't work (they are all in one hair-particle-system). In the attached mpg-file you can see my problem.

Can confirm that hair dynamics have a problem in this file.
Cause for this is one heavily distorted guide hair

Not sure yet why exactly the sim freaks out (as in: wont sim the remaining hairs), might investigate a bit (even though this is usually not my playground and hair/particle is under heavy rewrite anyways...)
Workaround is to smooth this guidehairs vertices out (or better: just delete that particular guide: 'X' --> particle). That should solve it make all remaining hairs sim again.

In attached .blend, the guidehair in question is selected (ready to be deleted)

Thanks for your answer. I think the task is resolved. I'm wondering why a distorted guide hair has effects to other guide hairs. But as you say the hair/particle will rewrited.
