First impression on the "Correct face attributes" option
AMAZING IMPROVEMENT! This is a dream come true for our environment artists at Embark Studios! This new feature will also be greatly appreciated among all other Blender users as well.

Suggested improvements

Suggested prioritization order

  • EXTRUDE - extrude face(s) currently does not work with Correct face attributes
  • Connected faces in uv editor does not show optimal behaviour

Corner case issue even when faces are separate in the uv editor

Non connected faces in uv editor works great

NOTE: This post is just a statement and not a suggestion for improvement.

The tool works best with faces that are not connected to another face in the uv editor.

Connected faces in uv editor does not show optimal behaviour
I can see that the developer has used “lock” position on vertices where uv’s are connected to other faces in the uv editor. The result is unwanted “skewing” of the texture in the 3d viewport. I believe that that the best behaviour in terms of correcting uv’s would be to make them “unlocked”, even if they are connected to another face in the uv editor. This means that the faces are able to overlap in the uv editor and display texture ratio in the 3d viewport

connected faces in uv editor causes issues.mp4

Corner case issue even when faces are separate in the uv editor
Sometimes there are some faces that does not correct uv coordinates as expected, even when each face is separated and have seams. One face get’s “texture stretching” at one point, but distributes uv’s correct after that. I will investigate further

EXTRUDE - extrude face(s) currently does not work with Correct face attributes

extrude does not correct uv.mp4

Suggested behaviour for extrude face
Step 1 (selecting face)

Step 2 (extrude face)
The created faces first inherit the uv coordinate of the original face and then, the uv coordinates are corrected. UV overlap is expected to happen

"Spin" and "extrude to click" maybe also apply this function?

Even casual extrude do not work well in 2.9, in this example one face is distorted and ruins this feature.

Correct Face Attributes does not work when setting a specific transform position value for selected components in the item tab. This would be nice to have as I don't think there is a way to mimic the same functionality with the grab tool to move components to an exact location.
