Short description of error
When returning to an open instance of Blender from other application, Blender (often) crashes immediately. Happens with multiple files (of a certain complexity?).
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open attached file. Switch to other app without closing blender. Return to Blender: Crash.
Metaballs Forest Scene 02.blend

I opened the attached file in Blender 2.92.0 Release Candidate, switched to another application, and switched back to Blender. I toyed around with it a bit, but could not get it to crash. macOS 11.1 (20C69), iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014).

Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Needs User Info'
Couldn't redo on macOS 10.14.6, Intel HD 6000 on 2.90.0 and

Although there are plenty of reports with AMD GPUs + macs
Did this change with Blender updates ? https://www.blender.org/download/

I was able to reproduce this IF I also let the display sleep before returning to the app.
Steps:
Blender crashes.
I believe this will require an AMD for this crash to happen, however, and I can't seem to make it crash every time. I get is similar crashes a lot, but rarely is it repeatable 100% of the time. It's maddening.
It definitely feels like once the mac display wakes up from sleep, blender is on borrowed time. It may not crash immediately, but it will crash "any second now" and almost always does.

This looks a whole lot like #70856 (macOS: Blender crashes when I log in/wake the display).
And since we are not making progress with this report, will assume this can be merged.
(feel free to comment again if it turns out to be different from #70856)
