Incorrect work of the modifier as img (one spiral, instead 4).
Presets:
Vertex combined by obtained by

  1. Add Single Vert (Edit mode automat)
  2. GX1
  3. Add Modifier Screw with 360 o, [Screw - 6.4m] [Iterations - 2]
  4. Add Modifier Array with chechkbox ObjectOffests (Empty rotate on 90 o by AXIS Z), COUNT - 4.
  5. Apply ALL Modifier || not [Apply Modifiers]
  6. Add Skin Modifier - not work (as img)/

P.C. additionally does not work modifier Normal Edit (and in Geometry Nodes) in this occasion.

It's strange now if the modifier stack is not applied, it seems to work
SkinStack.png
and Normal edit earned.

But it is still not clear why it does not work with the applied modifiers.
And why doesn't it edit vertex normals and node geometries don't have access to them?

@pseudoua It doesn't work when applying the modifiers because you lose the roots. The skin modifier works by taking the radius of the vertex/vertices marked as "root" (circled in red in edit-mode). In your example, after applying all the modifiers you would have to select the bottom 4 vertices and click "Mark Root" in the skin modifier. When not applying the modifiers, then the array modifier will copy the root flag for you.

Can you confirm that marking the vertices as root works?

@pseudoua that is a different bug in the UI in the alpha atm. Use Ctrl+A while hovering over the modifier to apply in the meantime.
