System Information
Operating system: macOS-11.5-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: eGPU AMD Radeon RX 6900 (reported as internal Intel(R) Iris(TM) Plus Graphics OpenGL Engine Intel Inc. 4.1 INTEL-16.5.1)

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-06-02 11:21, hash: 84da05a8b8
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected) 2.83.15

Short description of error
When a Principled BSDF material is set with transmission 1.000 and Roughness below 0.0038, the material displays as opaque in lookdev.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
In blender 2.93, create a new file.
Change to shading view
Set transmission on material of default cube to 1.00
Reduce roughness of same material below 0.0038

Even after setting roughness to 0, the object will display as expected in blender 2.83.15

I see no difference between those Blender versions. But maybe I don't know what you mean? Screenshots would help.

Here I've set Roughness to 0.002, so well below the value you indicated. It shouldn't be like this?

Sorry, I should have attached screenshots. That is not the display I get.
I have attached screenshots of the below 3 cases. FYI I originally got this when I set the roughness to 0. Then I tried to find at which exact value this occurs.
I also tried this on my internal display and got the same result.

I notice the left ball in the lower right corner of the Shading view doesn't look like a reflecting mirror ball, but is pitch black. Does it also look like that when you start Blender, load factory defaults and go to the Shading tab? It should look like this:

reported as internal Intel(R) Iris(TM)

I fear to close the task as a duplicate of #88754 (Intel HD graphics: Changing Roughness Value to 0 causes mesh to be black).

Yes, please see attached screenshot. FYI it appears white for the briefest of moments (not silver) before turning black.

@PratikPB2123
I confirmed that both versions are reporting the Intel chipset.
