Windows 10 Pro - up to date
Blender Sysinfo pasted below.
As a new user, a simple mistake can crash Blender IMHO too easily without a cancel.
As a new user, playing around with particles.
Geometry nodes - create a multiply node with 10K in it. In this case, mult the density of a point distribute on a tiny object.
Have it attached to your output geometry node so you see the effect.
Reference tutorial if you care: https://youtu.be/52UYqe3zdxQ
Looks good. Let's add a math node to make it integers for looks. Shift D and drop it next to the other one.
YIPES. DEAD.
Obviously it's now 10K x 10K density. An insane value from a common and reasonable action killing Blender.
Now, PEBKAC, sure. But this seems like a very common action to me and the interface "should" protect me from myself, should it not?
For a beginner, such a simple action being so detremental, with no cancel option, and potential loss of work seems very bug-like.
A solution would seem to be a cancel/progress dialog rather than "not responding" and eventual, inevitable crash.
Ob note: Blender devs are to be worshiped. Forgive my insolence.

Hi, thanks for the report. Could you please add a simple .blend file and steps for reproducing the issue?
Present steps are bit unclear to me.
Also please try again with [2.93.5 ]] or [ https:*builder.blender.org/download/daily/ | daily builds
(A guideline for making a good bug report can be found at https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Process/Bug_Reports)
Thanks, Pratik.
I have attached a screen-shot showing the action "in progress". It's a little small, but readable.
It shows the moment where I have used "SHIFT-D" to duplicate a "Multiply by 10,000' node.
I am about to drop-and-insert it. This might be a "Node Wrangler" feature.
My intention is that I'd then change it to the math operation I had intended.
Unfortunately, just the action of dropping the node recalculates a "10,000 x 10,000 x number of nodes" action.
Usually, that's an AMAZING feature. In this case, it's fatal. Blender stops responding. Much to its credit - it's just busy, not crashed! However, on my computer it's going to be busy for a LONG time. It required a process kill. There's the potential of work lost (not in my case - no harm done).
I would love a dialog to pop up after a configurable number of seconds. A count-up timer and a cancel button for the current action?
Other than that, I can't think of an easy fix that doesn't quickly become an annoyance.
Cheers,
Al
And here is the blend file just prior to duplicating the node.

Hi, while we do continue to work on improving performance in general, potential performance improvements are not handled as bug reports.
To improve performance, consider using less complex geometry.
This is more of request for modified/improved behavior and not a bug in current behavior. Closing as this bug tracker is only for bugs and errors.
For feature request, use: https://blender.community/c/rightclickselect/?sorting=hot
For user requests and feedback, please use other channels: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Communication/Contact#User_Feedback_and_Requests
For more information on why this isn't considered a bug, visit: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference/Not_a_bug
Closing the report for now but feel free to reopen if there is any misunderstanding from my side :)
