System Information
Operating system: macOS-10.15.7-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon Pro 560X OpenGL Engine ATI Technologies Inc. 4.1 ATI-3.10.21

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-12-02 18:35, hash: f1cca30557
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
[Please fill out a short description of the error here] I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. But Blender quits every 10 seconds now. I'm playing with the hair system. Going in and out of particle edit. It will not stop crashing. I can't work. It happens constantly. I don't know how to reproduce it. I'm not very computer savvy, and it seems to happen whenever it feels like; but constantly. The hair particle system is definitely part of it. Also, I started using the "cut shape object" or whatever its called. Using a hat to cut the hair that overlaps it. This may have something to do with it too..ChoochBlender22.blend

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
[Please describe the exact steps needed to reproduce the issue]
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

I won't know how to get back here. I have no idea how any of this works, but play with the file and the hair using my system. I just keeps crashing over and over. Driving me absolutely crazy

Hi, checked your scene with Blender 2.93, and Blender 3.0, on windows 10 with a NVIDIA Graphic card (GTX 1050) and there is no issues whatsoever. Here is a screenshot: image.png

No crash, nothing.

So if this happen, this happen probably, your platform, your hardware or the way you tried something before the crash. You did not write anything. It work fine on Windows 10 with a NVidia video card.

Please check back again, and if you can check and at least report this:

What were you attempting to do when it crashed? as: (Exact steps for others to reproduce the error), this is really important for the DEV to know this as it will give them a direction to investigate. Without more information this ticket will surely be closed and there not much information to do anything.

Thank you for responding. I would love to do that, but it doesn’t seem to happen with one thing. Just going into the edit particles tab, and using the shape cut object, then going back to object mode and adjusting more hair settings. If it’s a hardware thing, is that something that should be fixed? I definitely don’t have an nvidia card. No gpu rendering at all, as far as I know. But I do one thing with the hair, crash, then I to a different way, crash. Every couple minutes. I literally can’t get anything done. Oh! And I was basically using it in Eevee. Switching back and forth between viewport…things. Lol. I’m sorry I don’t know the names and I barely know what I’m doing. I just want it to stop crashing! 😫

Hi Robert, possibly you have the same issue: #83199 (Blender crashes when adding a particle system to a mesh object and switching the type to Hair)
Can you confirm if that's the case?
Also, please provide crash logs generated after the crash: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/crash.html#crash-log
And exact reproducing steps will also be useful (but it looks like you are unable to find them) :)

No, not exactly. You can see in that other persons screen shot of my file, I was able to add hair, and mess with it a bit. I really think the crash comes from using the “cut object.” I was using the hat to cut the hairs, so they wouldn’t go through the hat. Just wanted to see a little hair peaking out under the hat.
I’m not sure how to add crash logs. I’ll try to look it up and give it a shot though.

Hi Robert, did you manage to find log files?: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/crash.html#macos
Perhaps crash happens because Blender ran out of memory.
I could not get the crash on recent 3.2. build.

Operating system : Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card : AMD Radeon(TM) 535 ATI Technologies .```
