grease pencil lags and do not registers draw until the release of mouse/pen

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
after importing PNG image as reference image then grease pencil on top on it causes very bad lag

@Xena_Studio I cannot reproduce on my Windows/NVIDIA PC. could you provide an example .blend file?

@antoniov , I've been able to repro this when I use below image as reference ({nav Shift A > Images > Reference})
Happens very frequently when I attempt to draw over left portion of the image

This doesn't happen when I import image as " Background " instead of " Reference "
