Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.3.1, branch: master, commit date: 2022-10-04 18:35, hash: blender/blender@b292cfe5a9

Addon Information
Name: Pose Library (2, 0)
Author: Sybren A. Stüvel

Description
On https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/3.3/animation/armatures/posing/editing/pose_library.html there is no mention of the Pose Library add-on. It says

The pose library can be used directly from the Asset Browser. The Pose Library panels will appear when the active object is an armature and in Pose Mode."

This is not true by default, the add-on needs to be enabled first.

I'm not sure if the bug is that the documentation is missing or that the add-on is disabled by default. To me it seems like it should be enabled by default. It's an implementation detail that this is an add-on.

The default Pose Library toolkit is deprecated and may be replaced by the Asset Browser.
Currently, it doesn't even work anymore.
Apparently its documentation has not yet been updated.
So indeed it is confusing, even more so with the add-on.

By default, you mean the old one? The old pose library is described here: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/3.3/animation/armatures/posing/editing/pose_library.html#old-pose-library.

It says "The old pose library is deprecated in Blender 3.0, and will be mostly removed Blender 3.1", which doesn't seem to be true. I mean, it's still there in 3.3.1.

Can confirm.
This addon needs to be activated for the pose library to be available, but it's not mentioned anywhere in the documentation.

Will check with the module on how we handle that

For future reference: Sybren told me in chat that the add-on is supposed to be enabled by default. And that there's code that upgrades settings from previous versions, which should also result in the add-on being enabled.

I wasn't able to reproduce that the add-on is disabled.

I just uninstalled Blender 3.3.1, then removed the settings folder AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.3. After re-installing, Blender asked if I want to re-use the settings from 3.0, which I declined. The add-on was enabled.

I closed Blender, removed the 3.3 folder again, re-opened Blender, and told Blender to use the 3.0 settings. The add-on was enabled, too. This was what I did originally after installing 3.3.1.

I found out about the add-on in this video which says "First of all you need to enable an add-on", which uses 3.0. One of the comment says

Was under the impression this was a built-in feature in the sense that it was already enabled. Surprised to realize it's an add-on that is off by default

So I don't know how to repro this. But I don't seem to be the only one running into it.

This was closed a little prematurely. I'll add a note to the documentation about this being an add-on.
