%%%Inserting keyframes creates correctly keys that are visibble under DopeSheet Summary> scene_name> Scene action, except for keyframed cropping effects.

Imagine I have 4 (say, video) strips in the VSE, whose names are:

Phone rings
John answers
John cries
Mary arrives

In the video sequence editor, I add an Effect strip of type Transform on top of "phone rings", namely I change the scale. I call it "Trans Phone rings", and I key it. I also directly use key frames on "John answers" "John cries" and "Mary arrives". Specifically, I check "Image crop" and I do put keyframes on "top" and "bottom" crop values.

The Output view in the DopeSheet Summary becomes:

Scale X (Trans Phone rings)
Top(Sequence crop)
Bottom(Sequence crop)
Top(Sequence crop)
Bottom(Sequence crop)
Top(Sequence crop)
Bottom(Sequence crop)

While it should be:
Scale X (Trans Phone rings)
Top(John answers)
Bottom(John answers)
Top(John cries)
Bottom(John cries)
Top(Mary arrives)
Bottom(Mary arrives)

Tested on Blender 2.64.0 (r51232), 64 bits, binary downloaded from blender.org, on kubuntu 12.04

See attached screenshot. The green horizontal lines are there when you click on the left, they are not guides that may help you figure out on which strip you are working on.%%%

%%%Additional note: the screenshot is based on strips that are in fact still images (here, png); I use the crop to make a scrolling effect (like scrolling a web page) on a still image. I haven't checked if the bug is present with video strips.%%%

%%%I believe you have a problem here, but this bug tracker is for users to present a simple redoable case, so others can confirm and work on it.

Just add a zip here with the simplest possible case created from scratch that illustrates an error. (if needed, mention the few steps required to redo that).

%%%I can see this is annoying usability wise,

But this is working as intended, 'Sequence Crop' is a separate structure which doesnt have a unique name like the sequence does.

Looking into the code, rna_def_strip_transform() is using
RNA_def_struct_ui_text(srna, "Sequence Transform", "Transform parameters for a sequence strip");

The data path could be used to get the name since the dope-sheet has access to this:
sequence_editor.sequences_all["SomeImage.png"].transform.offset_x

Set as a TODO item.
