Win7 GeForce660M

- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---

2.67b

- Short description of error ---

moving curve point drags child objects with it

- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---
  1. enter edit mode on the attached .blend

  3. the parented cube is dragged along even though the curve's origin does not move

%%%Confirmed, assigning to Joshua.

developer note:
solve_parenting() is still calling ob_parcurve().
This is intentional, but isn't really usable - eg, no way to set OB_DISABLE_PATH.%%%

%%%Upon further inspection of the code, this is not actually a bug!

In fact, there is an easy way to disable this behaviour: Simply disable the "Path Animation" checkbox under Curve Properties. Sure, you'll have to do this for each curve you create, and it will not be possible to have a curve where some objects don't follow along, while other can and do.

In your file, you may see a slight jump when you disable this (which I'm guessing will be due to the fact that you probably adjusted the placement of the cube to account for any unwanted displacement which may have occurred when doing the parenting). This can be easily fixed though - either by manually moving it, or by using the 3D cursor as a good reference point for snapping.

Hopefully this helps.%%%
