Composite nodes do not move image bounds, only pixels
Closed, InvalidPublicTO DO

Description

--- Operating System, Graphics card ---

Archlinux

--- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---

Fails in 2.68a and r59125 from builder.blender

--- Short description of error ---

Images moved or scaled in the compositor with a Translate or Scale node are cropped by the original unscaled/unmoved bounds of the image.

For some reason, this is corrected when using an Alpha Over node to overlay on a render size image (in the example.blend, a gradient texture),
but if you add any nodes in between the original translate or scale node (e.g. a blur node) then the image is cropped again.

--- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---

1. Open example file. the scaled image will be cropped to its original dimensions.

2. Disconnect blur node and connect the Scale node to the Alpha Over node. the image is now only cropped by the render dimensions (as it is supposed to be)

Event Timeline

I think that's how the nodes were designed to work. The system could be improved here once but this isn't really a bug, some nodes preserve translations but others have to apply them on execution.
