Markers in Timeline don't move with other keyframes. #40229

If I want to move markers AND keyframes, they aren't move together. It depends where the mouse is (vertically, where the keyframes or the markers are).

I suppose that I can move all the keyframes at the same time, using DopeSheet with Summary... but, if those markers are there for camera changing (using "Binde Camera to markers"), I have to move them separatedly... very very tricky job.

Now, reading this report... sorry if this is not a bug... but a suggestion.

Also, if "Sync Markers" is off, when I do Ctrl-Click in markers zone, it DOESN'T select the markers from the current frmae to last/first... but it DOES select the keyframes.

Being "Sync Markers" OFF, markers and keyframes should work independent, using Ctrl-Click, depend on where to click (keyframes zone or markers zone)
Being "Sync Markers" ON, any selected keyframes and markers, should move at the same time. And to be selected, too (Border Select, Ctrl-Click, etc). As they were all keyframes.

While I can see sync to markers could work in some cases it currently doesnt, the initial report still isnt clear to me.

Please list exact steps to get incorrect behavior, and say what you expect.

Is this happening in the NLA.. dopesheet? what tools are you accessing?

Marking as incomplete.

Ctrl Select Click works as it is configured in Input section of User Preferences.
For Dopesheet, Ctrl Select Click -> Select Keyframes relative to current frame.
For Makers, Ctrl Select Click -> Select corresponding camera.

Markers shortcuts are shared between Timeline, Dopesheet, etc...

When Sync Markers is ON, it does what tooltip says. Selected Markers are moved when keyframes are edited.
It is a "sync markers to keyframes" option.

Do you expect a "sync keyframes to markers" option ?
Do you want another shortcut for select camera by selecting corresponding marker ?

@zeauro, I dont follow your last comment, your questions seem to suggest Blender's behavior should be changed.

We need to identify errors/mistakes in the code, if default behavior could be better, its worth noting too - but currently this whole report is very vague and confusing, and not sure what action can be taken with it.

Gentleman, thank you for checking this bug again.

In this moment, I'm on hollidays and this is not my computer. Next week I'll be on my home, on my PC... so, I'll complete this report then.

Also, I found a draft comment of mine right here on this report and it says:

Also, markers should be in Summary.

I think it was a suggestion, not a bug... but maybe it is something important. If a I want to move massive keyframes, there should be an options to move the markers too.

Tested in the dope-sheet view with keyframes & markers

  • Enable sync-markers
  • Ctrl+RMB to select side-of-frame (both markers & keyframes)
  • Grab, moves (both markers and keframes)

As far as I can see all is working as intended and its possible to move many markers and keyframes at once.

closing.

Well, now at home, I test this bug.

I don't remember what I wanted to do when I reported this. It doesn't matter... now, I test different things and I found:

1.- When I move keyframes and the markers synched with them, the markers take the new position ONLY when I release the movement. While I move the mouse, I can only see keyframes moving, not markers. The result is as spected, but markers don't move while moving the mouse. Half-bug?

2.- When Sync-markers is OFF, Ctrl-click doesn't work as spected on markers (in markers zone). It only selects one marker (the nearest to the mouse). Also, the keyframes ARE selected. I think, as it is the markers zone, the keyframes should not be selected. Maybe this is a bug, too. EDIT: Ctrl-click selects camera binded. The function to select all the markers from the local frame to current frame (as it works in keyframes), doesn't exist. Well.. if it is on purpose, it's OK.

@zeauro:
Do you expect a "sync keyframes to markers" option ?
No, it's ok.

Do you want another shortcut for select camera by selecting corresponding marker ?
I don't know... as I said before, I can't select markers to left-right... but maybe it is not so neccesary.

Also, I don't find the markers option in Preferences - Input, as you said.
