System Information
win7
tested on 4 PCs:
Blender Version
Broken: 4.70a
f93bc76
+ 2.71b49e6d0
Short description of error
OpenGL driver is crashing on multiple pc configurations with different nvidia drivers(tested with 337.88, 335.23, 331.82). The openGL error messages system gives differ on each computer(sometimes its only error code 3, sometimes its code 7 and 3 together or 2 messages with code 3). In the blender test release
b49e6d0
4 diffuse and glossy samles are enough to produce error, in 2.70a it crashes at 64 samples in both diffuse and glossy. On a single pc openGL driver does not crash, but its hard to say why. All other PCs with same driver, hardware and blender release crashes.
The other thing not working perfectly is stopping the branched path render, it makes the system unresponsive and its hard to stop. When rendering on CPU the system is more responsive, but clicking the X "stop_job_button" does not end it immediately, the tiles in progress need to be rendered and after then it stops.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open attached BranchedPathTracingCrash.blend file, render on gpu (in 2.70a set diffuse and glosy samples to 64). The driver should crash with message . Lower samples does not produce crash, sometimes its needed to increase those numbers.

Hi,
this is not a bug in Cycles, but a Windows - GPU Timeout. It's documented in the Cycles manual: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/GPU_Rendering See the point "The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver".
