Short description of error
No sound from a sound actuator with the vc 2013 blender builds. The attached blend file plays sound with the 2.69 and 2.70 blender builds but no sound with the vc2013 builds

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
See attached blendfile. Press "P" in the upper right window and move the mouse over the sphere.

The sound is not playing because you have set the cone inner and cone outer to low on the sound actuator with 3d sound. Reset them both to 360 degrees if you want to hear the sound in 3d or turn 3d sound off.

Tested in 2.69 and 2.71 final I can hear the sound when cone outer and cone inner is set to 360.
2.69 didn't allow me to hear the sound play with the sound actuator settings on the supplied blend.

Well, I can hear the sound from that file without any issue here (linux64, OpenAL backend, current master), so I guess there is still some kind of issue with vc2013 build?

yepp you are right. but this a different behavier compared to the none vc2013 builds. Under 2.69 I do not have to set the cone to 360

Could this just be an inconsistency in the implementation of OpenAL used for the vc2008 and the vc2013 builds? Jörg, Thomas, can either of you provide any insight into this issue?

In Windows 8.1 pro x64
It works fine with blender-2.71-81c3fc9-win64-vc9.zip from buildbot.
With other binaries which might be built with VC2013, there is no sound too.

Can someone try tomorrows buildbot and see if moving to openal soft 1.16 solves this for them. It does for me

Same as with the other report, works again. Confirmed on Windows 7 x64 with Todays Buildbot.
