Blender 2.71 1) UV projections are distorted. 2) view >>> Draw other objects (in UV/image editor) does not work as well #41370

System Information
Windows 8 64 bit, core i3-540, both intel integrated graphic card and nvidia nvs 440.

Blender Version
Broken: 2.71
Worked: 2.68

Short description of error

  1. UV projections are distorted

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Take standard cube, change its dimensions to 1:1:0.075, object mode, apply scale, edit mode, smart UV project, and it is distorted, that is the 2 big faces are not squares, they are rectangles. At least when texture size is 1024*512.

  1. Second error, draw other objects option in UV/image editor does not work.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

I unwrap one cube, go to object mode, select the cube I already unwrapped and shift select new cube to unwrap on the same image, go edit mode, hit unwrap, go to view >>> draw other objects and outlines of the first unwrapped cube do not show up.

All above bugs do not appear in Blender 2.68 version

Point 1 Not quite sure this is a bug, afaik this unwrap script does not ensure proportions are kept? Campbell should know…

Point 2 no bug here, since your two objects have same unwrap… just move active one, you’ll see the other is there.

Yes mont29 you are right, second issue is not a bug as it turns out, but I clearly remember working on another project and it did not show up, I was moving UV around, but it seems I cannot recreate that now, anyways thanks for pointing out.

As for the first point, it does ensure proportions are kept at least in blender 2.68.

  1. Its using mesh coordinates, this is more a todo then bug.
  2. is fixed in recent blender build.

Just figured out, that problem #1 does not work correctly in cycles, when you switch to blender internal, it does not have distrotion issue!
