Can't redo this, tested on d919218 (official test build) 64bit Linux.

this is strange, it happens all the time...try to activate the button to lock the interface while rendering..and then while it renders press the home key.

Please always setup your files to exhibit the error with minimal steps.

I tried activating the lock but still unable to redo the crash.

eh, there is a difference between 'testbuild' as in 'release candidate' or 'pre-release' and 'testbuild' as in the testbuild branch that devs are using to test their dev branch. If I'm not mistaken, @Angel Pat (valcar3d) downloaded one of the gsoc student (@Jonathan deWerd (jjoonathan)) testbuild (tis getting confusing...), so I don't feel like this bug should be handled here, Campbell?

Yep, 48eac was my personal testbuild. Thanks for the bug report, it'll help me get ready for merge, but it wasn't an official build and I'm 99% sure the problem was in my code, not official code from trunk (I made substantial additions to the UV editor, so a crash there is likely my fault).

Maybe the buildbot webpage should show forced testbuilds with different colors to make the difference more straightforward?

Oh, I see, thanks for the info @Jonathan deWerd (jjoonathan), yes, crashes all the time, I am confused about buildbot too..that's why campbell was unable to reproduce the error..I suppose this report can be closed..
