System Information
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit. Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX Notebook. Intel GMA 4500M

Blender Version
Broken: (example: Blender 2.72 Testbuild1 d919218 and the latest daily build.
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
When I want to make multiple vertices on a lone edge with loop cut, the object switches from vertex mode to edge mode. This happens only when I am editing a lone edge. I have a link to a video I made to illustrate what I mean and a link to the blend file.

This wasnt well supported, now draw preview points and select resulting edge-verts.

@SylvanusDadzie, I think nobody ever spent time to make this work well.

Now it highlights the edge, and leaves the selection as you would expect.
