Blender Version
Broken: 2.73.1 e9596e5

Short description of error
In the attached case, which is imported into blender, when trying to switch among different select modes, Blender crashed.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open the file, go to edit mode, try switching select mode to Edge or Face.

That mesh is invalid (C.object.data.validate(True) in py console). So what we need to know here is from where you imported it, and if org file was valid?
