Long description:
If i select cycles renderer and will put double array modificator (two copies of array modifier) on standard cube with constant offset no matter what value, then if i switch to texture view mode in viewport, and after that i switch to material mode, i'll get the crush.

It might be an OpenGL driver issue. Please:

  • Make sure latest drivers are installed
  • Put opengl32.dll from ftp://ftp.blender.org/sergey/softwaregl/ next to blender.exe and try to reproduce the crash again (this dll will switch blender to fully software opengl mode, eliminating possible bugs in the driver. It'll make blender slower but would let us know if the bug can in theory be fixed from our side).
  • Test if BI Material shading crashes as well.

Yes. Issue was in drivers. Sorry for worrying you for no purpose.
After putting this DLL into blender folder everything worked fine. Also no issues found on other machine with older installation of win 8.0

It's then very much unlikely we can do about the crash, it's just known poor opengl support on win8. Sometimes it's possible to work around some issues but for that developer should have access to computer with faulty configuration.

Thanks for the report, but it's out of our scope..
