Delete Branch "%!s(<nil>)"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
This is more of a suggestion, i apologies in advance if this isn't the right place to put it.
In it's current state it does have animatable materials but it's very obsolete, when I was trying to change the materials color it went stright from jet black to blue in 1 frame, which I would assume would serve some use, but leave little creative freedom for lack of a better term.
I would propose (in the instance i gave above) to have it be more gradually change like in a actual animation when a foot step forward, blender fill's in the blanks.

I do not understand your problem, materials are fully animatable like (nearly) everything else in Blender, just add keyframes on the properties you want to animate, and you are done…
Anyway, please do not make Design/Todo tasks, those are reserved to developers.
Yeah, it has animation-able properties, but the one scene i made didn't quite cut it. It went from jet black to blu in 1 frame instead of a gradual change in the span of 30 frame like i intended it to. Here is a quick render i made for the sake of example - On frame 1 i had the cube be jet black and on frame 40 i made it turn blu, but doesn't change gradually in the remaining 39 frames.0001.png0001-0045.avi
Please attach the .blend file here, much more useful than a video. Either you did not set correct keyframes, or you had wrong interpolation of your fcurves, or…

I went back to the blend, and you were right. I had it on constant interpolation. my apologies.
