Hello Blender-Team,

I can't open the user preferences in Blender v2.73a (Installer Exe) on a Windows x64 machine.
The main window closes without an error after pressing the link in the blender main menu.
Python 3.x is installed. Should I use Python 2.x instead?

My machine:
Fujitsu Lifebook S-Series
Windows7 Home Edition
4 Gigs RAM
Comodo Firewall running
Microsoft Security Essentials running (no other antivirus installed)

For sure do not use py2! :) Please:

Give us precise data about your GPU (Intel ones often have issue with several OGL windows at once).
Ensure both your OS and drivers are fully up-to-date.
Ensure your GPU driver supports at least OpenGL 1.4.
Ensure you have installed MSVC2013 redistributable package (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784).
Try to disable any running antivirus.
Try to start Blender in factory settings (--factory-startup commandline option).
Try to tweak OGL settings in UserPreferences, System tab (you can just change any other editor to userpref).
Try to place this dll next to your blender.exe (software OGL, will be slow, but will show whether this is a driver issue or not).

Thank you for reply.
I don't have Python v2 installed. I'm using Python v3.4.2 on my environment-system currently,

I send you my processor specifications at the end of this comment.
Every common windows update is included (over 120 updates were counted).
Not sure about my onboard-graphic power. I've got this GPU in my computer:

Intel Auburndale/Arrandale Processor - Integrated Graphics Controller [Fujitsu]

MSVC2013 redis. package is installed now
I've left this step over: disabling all antivirus software
I've left this step over: start Blender.exe with --factory-startup
I've left this step over: tweak OGL settings
I've copied the DLL into the working dir of blender

I don't know, where the "bug" was exactly. But I'm able to open the user preferences now. Thank you!
The Blender GUI seems to have a slower perfomance now, but I can access all options.

Yeah, your GPU is integrated into the CPU - crappy Intel one indeed, unfortunately their drivers are often buggy… Afraid we cannot do anything from our end, thanks for the report anyway. :)
