Short description of error
The STL import addon has a "scale" option, that resizes the geometry during import, but it's values are strongly limited. It has a lower limit of 0.01, so a simple conversion of units like millimeters to meters (0.001) is not possible, making the button not very useful.

This semms a very simple thing, an arbitrary limitation in the addon script. We use Blender to import CAD-data to visualize from STL files, which have units of millimeters, while we use Blender units of meters, meaning everything is imported 1000 times too big. The scale option during import could simply solve it with a 0.001 setting.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
File --> Import --> STL. Settings are on the left bottom --> Scale --> Write 0.001 --> is reset automatically to 0.01.
