Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
from default layout, file>append, while the file browser is open, file>quit.
now re open the project. it will open at the browser, but when trying to return to the main screen the application will
crash.

Note, the crash is fixed, 86cfbeec6a, but there is still a strange glitch where the info space turns into a file-selector.
