Kunai.blend
System Information
Operating system and graphics card
Windows 7 32bit with Intel g45/g43 express chipset.
I also tested this file on 64bit Linux (4.0.4) on the same computer, and didn't run into any problems.
Blender Version
2.74
Short description of error
Trying to open this file leads to an immediate crash. I've also had it crash my drivers once. Note that the crash seemed to happen when switching from solid to material, or when rendering. I stupidly saved while switched to material, though, so now it just crashes immediately.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open the file, and watch it crash. This may require a specific hardware/os/driver combination. I'll be happy to help if there's anything I can do to help debug this problem.

Yeah… cannot reproduce under linux here (debian64 testing, GTX850m), asan does not report anything.
Martijn, Sergey, think you have some windows, mind trying?
Oh, btw, there is an easy way to check whether it’s a driver bug, can you please try to place this dll next to your blender.exe (software OGL, will be slow, but will show whether this is a driver issue or not)?
I can't reproduce the crash with latest win32 builds on windows7 (win is 64bit tho).
Viewport in the file is set to Material shading, meaning it'll use GLSL. If there's some bug in the drievr (or if driver is not installed) it's possible that blender will crash.
Yeah, it works with software GL. Very slowly. :)
I ran blender in the console twice (without the software gl). First with -d and then with --debug-all. With -d I get the following output:
Unfortunately, Kunai.crash.txt is empty. Now, when I run with --debug-all, blender doesn't crash!
Oh yeah! I should note that I can confirm that material shading does work on this machine, at least in some cases. Just not in this one.

Well, if it works with software OGL, it’s definitively a driver issue. Unfortunately, we cannot do much about it, you may try with oldest (or more recent if available) versions of the driver, to see if you can find a 'good' one… But Intel’s drivers are not reknown for their quality, especially for such old 'GPUs' (we are talking of 7 years old very low end hardware here, really not made for CG work :/ ).
