Short description of error

Blender crashes when trying to open the right (+) properties panel. i just get the <-> sign when i hover over the "+" sign top-right and the blender crashes and closes.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

  • simply start blender and try to open the properties panel on the right side

Cannot reproduce here, most likely another GPU/OGL issue. Please:

  • Give us your exact OS and GPU versions, as requested in the template!
  • Ensure both your OS and drivers are fully up-to-date.
  • Ensure your GPU driver supports at least OpenGL 1.4.
  • Try to start Blender in factory settings (--factory-startup commandline option) (this will ensure whether this is a userpref or addon issue or not).
  • Try to tweak OGL settings in UserPreferences, System tab.
  • Try to tweak your GPU driver settings (e.g. try different values between 'performance' and 'quality' if you have such slider, etc.).
  • Attach here the report generated by Help -> System Info.
  • Try to place this dll next to your blender.exe (software OGL, will be slow, but will show whether this is a driver issue or not).

Ok, sorry, i have ASUS Nvidia Geforce 660 TI OC 3GB /GK104 - normal mode. Everything work nice with Blender 2.74, so i had no such issues until now.

I uninstalled every Blender Version and every add-on, i deleted everything from registry with ccleaner, i performed a clean Installation.
I put opengl32.dll in the blender folder and still get this issue. i have latest drivers installed - Nvidia 353.12.

I started like this and become the following :

C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender>blender.exe --factory-startup
AL lib: (EE) UpdateDeviceParams: Failed to set 44100hz, got 96000hz instead
found bundled python: C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.75\python

if i go into edit-mode and move a vertex first, then i can open the transform/properties panel and everything seemed to work normal. now i have it again also in this case.... very strange, it is anyway a bug from blender. i installed v.2.74 and everything works fine again.

Still cannot reproduce the issue here… Does it happen for you when using factory settings (--factory-startup commandline option)? Also, does it happen if you use the N shortcut instead of clicking on the small + icon?

ok..., when i press N, it works, so no (mouse)crash after i press N. I have a Logitech Wireless Mouse (2Buttons+Wheel).
It still jumps opening the properties panel again with the mouse, in 2.74 it was a smooth opening.

Yeah, confirms my presumption. Think issue lies in the AZone handling, but we still need a dev who can recreate :/

@taxishop, just a random test - could you go into "super"-fullscreen (alt+F10, then alt+F11) and go to the upper right corner? If everything goes fine an icon should appear.

The issue reported can't be reproduced so far, and has been moved to the BF Blender: Unconfirmed project.
If 2 other people aren't able to redo the bug after 2 weeks, it will be closed.

We appreciate the effort that goes into making bug reports, but to be able to fix bugs we have to be able to redo them.
If there is anything you can provide to help others to reproduce the problem, be sure to include it.

I can redo this on a VM (without any OpenGL drivers, just using the GDI generic renderer OpenGL which is v1.1)

It wont crash when running in the debugger, but starting Blender then attaching to the process, will redo the bug.

Even then, this is quite hard to debug, it locks up the system after ~5 seconds.

After waiting a few minutes the system becomes usable, but the MSVC debugger process crashes so I can't easily find whats going on.

This happened 3 times (crashing debugger), but if I manage to interrupt the process early enough.

Somehow dragging the toolbar out is causing a spike in memory, in ~2 seconds it jumps from 50mb to 415mb

Somehow each glyph is set to a really large font size (a single character is over 10k pixels wide and flooding the memory). So will have to find whats the cause of font sizes being set so big.
