Generic Input in a Group Node displays as Grayscale, when it is in fact neutral.
Open, NormalPublic

Description

Solution:

In the example above, the only change would be that the socket next to the Input would be empty instead of gray. This would fix the wrong impression that it's a Grayscale input - it's not, it's neutral as Sergey stated.

AFAIR, group socket types are actually being deducted on runtime and their "color" doesn't have much meaning. The suggested solution is not correct as well -- input socket type might be deducted from the the socket on the other side of the noodle.

In any case it's more like a feature request which we don't accept here. Thanks for the feedback anyway/

@Sergey Sharybin (sergey), Pawel is a member of the UI-team, so to my knowledge he's allowed (and welcome) to open UI design/todo tasks.

their "color" doesn't have much meaning

If the color doesn't indicate anything, it shouldn't be displayed (the socket can be drawn empty, like the last one in the Group Input).

Reopening, and changing the type from "To Do" to "Design". As far as I know I'm allowed to open those, as Julian said.

As I stated, a gray socket indicates Grayscale values, which may or may not be correct in this case. A "neutral" or "generic" color is needed here. Since gray is taken, this can be empty which is already coded:

So in the example above, the only change would be that the socket next to the Input would be empty instead of gray. This would fix the wrong impression that it's a Grayscale input - it's not, it's neutral as Sergey stated.
