All commands/inputs must be repeated unless screencast keys are enabled #46950

I'm using Windows 7 home on an Asus X54H laptop with Blender version 2.76b

The issue I am having that I cannot find a solution to is as follows-
Every command or input has to be done twice in order for Blender to recognize it. For example, adding text. When I first tab into edit mode there is no response, I have to right click somewhere on screen, or press a key that will not interfere with my process.
If I want my text to say "Blender", and I type as such, I have "Blende" on screen. The same goes when naming files to save, or any other actions I perform. Loop cuts must be stopped one short in order to get the intended cuts, as an example. The strangest part of this problem is that if I have the screencast keys add on enabled, the problem is resolved. I have presented this question in Blender Stack Exchange, and nobody was able to give me any ideas, and I can only think it's possibly a bug. If not, a possible solution would be awesome. My e-mail is timaroberts@yahoo.com for any further questions.

This is quite unlikely a bug on Blender's side (would have been reported way before if it was a common problem). This sounds more like some weird event handling on your system (first thing to confirm that would be to test same blender on another PC). Do you have anything installed related to keyboard?

Also, can you start blender in commandline with --debug-events --debug-handlers options, make an (as short as possible) session demonstrating the issue, and attach here everything printed out in the console?
