windows 7 64bits ; quadro k4000m

2.77 rc1
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error smoke generated from mesh give wrong result ; i will attach photo
and the error exist in the vdb file created
the other problem : i use maxwell to render the vdb files which have grids : density , heat (temperature) ....
the problem that when i choose heat as base grid maxwell crashed ; but worked fine when i set density ad base grid
some grids give wrong result when render like : react and shadow

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

just play the animation and you see wrong result ( the same problem in blender 2.77 rc2 )
for the render i have problem with some vdb grids and maxwell render
i didn't test other render engines ; maybe the developer can verify that

The mesh has normals pointing in the wrong direction, use "Make Normals Consistent" in edit mode to fix that, so that the smoke similar knows what is inside and outside the mesh. Even then it's best if the mesh is closed, otherwise inside or outside are not well defined.

If Maxwell crashes, that indicates it has some kind of bug. Blender might be writing invalid .vdb files, but inspecting them in other software I can't see anything wrong. I'm not sure what you mean with react and shadow giving wrong render results, but those grids should not be used for rendering, they're more internal grids for the Blender smoke simulator. The density, flame and color grids are intended for rendering.

If you can find some kind of evidence that Blender is writing incorrect .vdb files that can be investigated, but we can't help you with how to use other software.

the mesh was close ; i simplify the scene for you
i tested vdb files created with houdini in maxwell and worked fine but which created with blender have problem with some grids ; heat for example
