Couldn't redo the bug (both render and preview worked).

Crash log points to image loading, could you include the 2 image files this blend file references?

I have just one UV there. And I included this into the file already
textures/RaccoonUV.png

The 2nd image has "Fake user" and I can't delete it cos of crashing when I'm trying to do this.

I've just downloaded the latest build from today. And it's the same problem there.

It's the system (OS X) information about crash: CRASH.rtf

Thank you a lot for help!

I've just tried my other files with a HAIR SYSTEM and I have the same problem! I can't change the materials and can't render at all!

BUT It's work just fine and without crashes with official blender version (77a)

Even when I try to create a cube with a hair system on Mac the latest builds of Blender used to crash when I'm trying to render with a Cycles.

I switched to Windows - no problem at all!

So looks like we have a problem with OSX builds… @brecht iirc you are a Mac user? ;)

I can't reproduce the crash on OS X with the latest build from builder.blender.org.

  • Maybe try the latest build, there have been a bunch of fixes since two weeks ago.
  • What are the exact steps to reproduce the problem, just open the .blend and switch the 3D viewport to Rendered draw mode? Or are there other steps? Does it crash immediately or only after a while?
  • Does it still crash when disabling Open Shading Language?
