Short description of error
The attached .abc file fails to import into Blender. It contains a tree growth animation. Tried all option combinations right before importing, nada... In the console I'm getting an error report that says: "Could not open as ogawa file from provided streams" What gives???
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Just import the attached file.

Tried the latest build (2.78.4), results are the same... No joy :(
Added subscriber: @LazyDodo
alembic has a legacy internal format called hdf5 which this file uses, blender currently does not support this legacy format.
I imported the file into C4D and tried exporting out in both abc formats, and both of them returned the same error...
Hard to say what's wrong without looking at the files. Also please attach files to the report in the future, not on external hosting.
It wouldn't upload, hence the link. Sorry, dunno what happened there...

It was probably over the max file size.
Changed status from 'Open' to: 'Archived'
The file is compressed using HDF5 which is not supported by Blender, as mentioned by @LazyDodo. By converting the file to Ogawa, the import works:
Here's the Ogawa version of the file, for reference (converted from HDF5 by the
abcconvert
utility shipped with the Alembic library): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-drJ8xmSD_WbC1ENUxVMEVrZU0.Thanks for the report, but this is not considered a bug, so I'm closing this ticket.
