Proportional editing some vertices snap to mirrored position #51003

I ran into a bug with proportional editing, it can be replicated in attached mirror_bug.blend file;

An edge loop around the elbow should be selected - move it using proportional editing and somehow a couple of vertices on the fingers and feet should snap to mirrored position.
*moving any vert with proportional editing has the same effect.

The object that the issue is happening on was being prepared for final x-axis mirror using the modifier. Earlier a multiresolution and shrinkwrap modifier was on object and removed.

The scene has been tested in the newest build from blender.builder.org as well as the newest stable release on blender.org - with personal addons active and without

mirror_bug.blend

small update:

Consulting the #blender IRC channel user sst66 found that topology mirror was enabled and disabling the setting fixes the issue.

So the issue is probably connected to the topology mirror setting

The mesh is not mirrored, so using any mirror option doesn't make sense.
