Smoke > Domain and Flow panels not retaining data #51044

System Information
New iMac running latest OS (Mac OS Sierra)

Blender Version
2.78

Short description of error
I added an isohedron object and added a Smoke effect to it. In the Physics panel, under the Smoke Dropdown, under the Domain tab, I made changes to my smoke. When I went into the Flow tab to make changes there too, (I only changed the color), I went back to the Domain tab and everything had been reset to default. It SHOULD retain the data. It repeatedly does not.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

I am a noob. (NB: I promise I checked the docs and open tickets before filing this report.)
I was working on this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOGJg7wfx54
THESE ARE THE EXACT STEPS I WAS DOING. I did not deviate from what this guy is doing.

At time code 5:25 or so, he starts flipping back and forth between the "Domain" and "Flow" panels for the main Smoke domain. Where in his video, the data from one panel to another stays as he's changing, my data was lost when I changed panels.
I changed the Domain data as he shows, and went to the Flow panel as he shows, but when I went back to the Domain panel, nothing worked right anymore because all my changes had been reset for no reason.

I tried multiple times and googled. The behavior is consistently reproducibly broken.
I do believe this is a bug.

At time code 5:25 or so, he starts flipping back and forth between the "Domain" and "Flow" panels for the main Smoke domain.

No. He does not switch between panels for the same object.
He selects Emitter object (icosphere) to see "Flow" panel settings.
Then, he selects Domain Object (Cube) to see Smoke Domain settings.

There is only one domain object in his tutorial using smoke adaptive domain ability.

Smoke simulation does not work like dynamic paint where an object can be a brush and a canvas.

Here is the way smoke simulation works in Blender.
If an object is a smoke emitter, it is not a domain. It can not be a domain.
If an object is a smoke domain, it can not be a smoke emitter.

So, if you set parameters for smoke domain, you are not supposed to enable flow panel of smoke domain.
Switching between panels does not make sense.
You have to switch between objects to change active one.

Like @zeauro said, each object can only be one smoke type. Switching between types will reset the settings.
This is expected behavior, so no bug here. Closing.
