It's hard to follow the report. What exact Light Paths you're referring to?

Also, test the issue with Blender 2.79.

Steps :
1 . Cycles Render

  1. Render - Light Paths

Light Path in context is Cycles is a shader node, which has some boolean flags what the ray have bounced from. It has no way to configure anything.

Think the issue is in the light paths panel in the render tab, you can add your own custom settings by clicking the + behind the drop down

and he has 2 issues.

  1. once added you cannot edit the name
  2. the names get auto capitalization applied so if you add a setting called 'LowLightsVersion1' it will show as 'Lowlightsversion1' in the drop down.

@LazyDodo (LazyDodo), so it's about presets for bounces and such?

Sergey Sharybin (sergey) raised the priority of this task from Needs Information from User to Confirmed, Medium.

Phew, now see what's happening.

@Campbell Barton (campbellbarton), afraid need to summon you here. You know all the behavior of presets best here.

Checked report and these are all limits of existing preset system.

Extending presets would be nice, but this isn't a bug.
