Ubuntu 16.04.3 Threadripper 1950x

Blender Version 2.79 5bd8ac9abf

Short description of error Domain cube shrinks to about the same size as the fluid cube, but intersects with it, thus breaking the simulation.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error Bake fluid sim

Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps
control01.blend

It is written in the manual.

This object will be replaced by the fluid during the simulation.

Maximum draw type display of domain should not be set to Bounds. It should remain set to Textured.
It is a different simulation than smoke simulation.
Result of smoke simulation are voxels that must not be hidden by domain surface.
Result of fluid simulation is domain surface.
