can't use system input method in any text input field.
copy and paste is ok.
(I want type chinese directly)
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
like video edit, add a text in video clip, switch to chinese input method, type Chinese to change text content, only English ouptput

@abroter, what layout do you have? On quick tests I did have correct utf8 chars for input, just didn't have fonts installed.

input field can paste unicode, but it can't use system input method on OS X.

@abroter the link doesn't work, idea is good. =) Few images might also work for displaying problem.

I think the report is that Blender on macOS does not support IME, which is not really a bug but would good to support. If you add e.g. Simplified Chinese as an Input Source on macOS, typing in text fields normally gives you a little popup to compose Chinese characters, this does not happen in Blender.
