Boolean modifier - subdivision not taken into account when 0 in "view" setting #53418

Broken: 2.79

See attached file. In my scene there are two objects. One has boolean modifier. The other is a carving object with subsurf modifier on.

The problem is, boolean modifier takes into account subdivision level visible in viewport. When you set "view" level to 0...

boolean_subdiv_02.PNG

subdivision will not be visible during boolean despite the fact that subdiv "render" level is set to 4.

The same problem occurs when simplify is on in "Scene" settings. This means that one has to turn simplify off or change subdivision settings of the carving object before rendering.

This is a known limitation, caused by lack of clear separation of object state between render and viewport. It will be solved in Blender2.8 by the new data ownership model.

Thanks for the report, but this issue can not be solved in 2.7 series. Not without big redesign, which is what 2.8 is all about :)
