From the error report it seems that you are using a version of the Ivy Gen add-on in the config folder that is located in the path defined in it. Please remove it, or move it away from the folder and enable the add-on shipped with Blender that should be located in the Blender install / unpacked (for the zip version) directory/2.79/scripts/addons/add_curve_ivygen.py. Let us know if it worked for you.
A similar error related to trying to grow ivy from a vertex in #51753 was fixed and it is included in 2.79. Your specific one seems to be related to changes in the Blender API and should also be fixed before 2.79 release.

Setting as Incomplete until additional data is provided.

Thanks Vuk Gardašević, this solved my problem, I installed the ivygen from the internet, without realize that it was already by default on blender 2.79. I will be more careful when watching tutorials on youtube.
