Apparently still renders okay
I'm new to blender trying to follow some tutorials and it's not working.

This could be a graphics driver problem. Couple of things you could try:
Marking as incomplete until we have these tried...
My drivers are up to date. Could it have something to do with the Intel GPU?

@lichtwerk Hi there! I tried the opengl file you suggested. It slowed down everything to near standstill. But yes it worked. So I assume the issue is the gpu. I bought a new gpu with cuda and it's modern (and I think compatible) and it's on the way. So should that (hopefully?) resolve things?

Most likely yes it should work with the new nvidia card. Depending on the card and drivers there could be some issues, but in general Blender should work fine.
