"Your system does not use 3D hardware acceleration" #55785

System Information
Windows 10
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 w/ NVIDIA NVS 5200M

Blender Version
Broken: 2.79
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
BLENDER was running great. But after attempts of rendering a video, it will no longer open. I get this message in the blender cmd print:

AL lib: (EE) UpdateDeviceParams: Failed to set 44100hz, got 48000hz instead
Warning! Using result of ChoosePixelFormat.
Warning! Using result of ChoosePixelFormat.
Warning! Legacy WGL is unable to select between OpenGL versions.

Then a window with a big red X comes on titled "Blender - Can't detect 3D hardware accelerated Driver!" that reads:

Your system does not use 3D hardware acceleration. Blender requires a graphics card with OpenGL 2.1 support.

This may be caused by:

  • A missing or faulty graphics driver installation.
Blender needs a graphics card driver to work correctly.
  • Access Blender through a remote connection.
*Using Blender through a virtual machine.

The program will now close.

I press OK and it all closes
Now I can't open Blender at all.

Please fix, I will make sure I give Blender a generous donation. Thanks for a free awesome program,

TheMightyChuy! (Yeah, the exclamation point is included)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I don't know where to start, I did choose to render the project as AVI Raw. That was the main difference. I checked the audio files out of curiosity and I do recall the audio rate being at 48000hz. My video footage is that of a Canon T5i which records in .moving files if that is relevant.

There's nothing to fix from our side, the error is pretty explicit on what is wrong, i'd probably start by running gpu-z to see if the gpu is installed/detected properly.

I don't think the AVI raw has anything to do with it. I think something may have happened to your computer between blender sessions.
For example, windows decided to run an OS update. I would try to update your GPU driver (both GPUs). Or your dgpu got disabled. When launching blender you should be able to right click the exe-file and choose what gpu to run from. Try these things to see if it fixes your issue.

Hello again,

Thank you Aaron C. For your response.

Well you see, it's not my graphics card at all so gpuz will be useless. Everything else is working fine; all the games and digital art creating software and other video editors. All the drivers are installed and up to date. I dont know what's wrong. The real reason was probably pointed out in the blender cmd prompt. How else can I get the program to reopen properly?

Download this dll and copying it so its located in the same directory as 'blender.exe' and run Blender normally.

This will make blender run but it will use software to emulate your GPU and will run very slow. I would recommend checking drivers / GPUz. Just because other software works does not mean its not your GPU.
