Cycles Shadow Catcher Creating Multiple Shadows
Confirmed, NormalPublicBUG

Description

Hi,

This .blend file will demonstrate two shadow catchers overlapping each other and creating double shadows. It would perhaps be interesting to add a termination value for the amount of shadows cast or just removed entirely.

Thanks!
Beau

Hi Bastien, something went wrong, could you make this valid again?

I don`t think this is a bug as shadow catcher does not block shadow, if you add 10 stacked shadow catchers they all will catch same shadow.

Can confirm the behavior
This might very well not be a bug, but a limitation instead.

However, I would also expect (in an ideal world) to somehow not have the shadow catcher pick up a shadow if it has already been picked up by another.
Havent done any research on how to achieve this, just saying...

Maybe @Sergey Sharybin (sergey) wants to share his wisdom?

Maybe @Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) knows if this is a known limitation of the Cycles shadow catcher.

Just for quick reference, this is how the file looks like:

Note, the intersection of the cube with the top plane is not necessary.
