Blender 2-80 CRASH - EEVEE indirect light bake cache
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Blender has problems with storing cache after bake.
Everything was going well. But I do not know how but I has save file with the bake cache ( file size is big ) and Blender after file open show that there is no baked scene light.
Trying to bake causes CRASH after finishing or stopping baking.

When I used External Data -> Unpack All into Files, then Blender has "flushed zombie" cache and file was saved with lower size but now still baking process causes CRASH after finish or stop.

there is a link to files with "zombie cache" and "flushed":

Maybe dev should give option to create an external file for baked cache.

Second problem ( do not know if related ) is loosing textures in Eevee (black materials).
A Third problem was "bread loaf" material was causing a crash to when going to material tab. ( I have fixed it by erasing old material and reattach it again ).

Please follow our submission template and guidelines, also read these tips about bug reports, and make a complete, valid bug report, with required info, precise description of the issue (only ONE issue per report!), precise steps to reproduce it, small and simple .blend and/or other files to do so if needed, etc.
Videos and/or links to external sites etc. are not acceptable as bug report (they can be provided as additional information only).

Blender 2-80: current and previous version

Cannot sent "small&simple" blend cause it contains "zombie" bake cache. One file has over 105MB, second 35MB.
So use the Dropbox link please.

Reproduction: just try to bake indirect light and stop or wait till finish. Then Blender crashes for both files.

Forget about disappearing textures or crashing materials. Just try to fix this bake cache.

I added a file Kuchnia-R12-Okno-L-delete-crash.blend that bases on previous files.
Here CRASH is made when trying to delete object in Collection BUDYNEK named Okno-L.
When collection BUDYNEK contained more objects and I was deleting objects in there then I was crash randomly at other objects in collection. :(

I made this blend file by adding collections from previous files. SETUP collection w/o any mesh worked fine. When I added objects from BUDYNEK colelction ( Copy+Paste from previous files )
then bake problem appeared.. and delete problem also.

That is still totally confusing and not investigable. Again, please:

  • Report *ONE* issue per task, and only ONE. Otherwise it’s totally impossible to keep track of things.
  • Give *clear, simple* steps to reproduce the issue, based on *simple .blend file*. We do not accept big production files, those are a nightmare to investigate, and it’s always possible to reproduce the issue with a basic demo one.
  • Attach files here (even if a few Mb, the site can handle it).
